Thanks to Laura Smith of Campbell's BPAC for this update!
Winchester Boulevard Improvements (Phase 1): This whole project involving Winchester Boulevard north and south of Campbell Avenue is scheduled to be completed by the end of June. Still needed are the installation of new street lights, decorative cross walks at the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Winchester
Boulevard and striping. The goal of the project was not only to beautify this area but to make it safer for both pedestrian and bike rider. Both objectives have been reached.
Boogie on the Bayou: The city of Campbell provided the BPAC with a one day booth at this year's Boogie on the Bayou. Upwards of 70 people came by to see what we were all about. Some had bike related questions and concerns and others were happy to get Campbell Par Course Trail maps and City of Campbell Bike Lane/Routes maps (PDF, 2 MB). An unofficial survey showed that the bike riders we asked about helmets said they always wear them. Concerns were mostly about safety and riding in traffic. With more and more people riding bikes both as a primary means of transportation and for recreation, its good to know that there is a city-supported committee that advocates for better, safer walking and cycling in our community.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
