Officers from Ingleside station following a tip went to the home of Irving Sanchez on the 200 block of Charter Oak Avenue in Silver Terrace, where they found eight allegedly stolen bikes in his kitchen, police said. A subsequent search of two Oakland storage lockers he had rented turned up 81 bicycles in one and 25 in another, along with 80 bike tires and a frame.

May 22, 2012I just got back from a meeting of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, where I spoke in favor of two bike/pedestrian infrastructure projects that would benefit significantly if approved to be funded through decade-old mitigation money from Stanford. Burritos from start to finish
May 17, 2012My bike to Work Day began at 6:45 am (not my finest hour), when I boarded a vacant northbound Caltrain to Mountain View. It was pretty early, and I suppose most people riding the rails at that hour opted for the baby bullet that departed a few minutes earlier, so I was all alone in the bike car. No worries about getting bumped, at least!

King of the Mountain
May 16, 2012SVBC members were invited this year to join our first team ride effort at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group's King of the Mountain (KOM) charity ride. Much to our surprise, and to the credit of team leaders and board members Shiloh Ballard and Alyssa Plicka, we were able to recruit 16 people to the SVBC team! It was great fun--and, we took third place in the "largest team" competition!

Good showing for the Bay Trail
May 16, 2012I'd like to thank the SVBC members who attended Liz Kniss' press event this morning, where she officially announced a proposal to invest $5 million in the Adobe Creek Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge over Highway 101 in Palo Alto and $3 million in the Dumbarton link to the Bay Trail in East Palo Alto (a project SVBC advocates have been working on in conjunction with our Facebook campaign).
