Our fantastic volunteers have Stanford Football fans biking

December 7, 2011 - 3:31pm -- colin

We have some pretty amazing volunteers here at SVBC. We know it, they know it, and Stanford Football attendees REALLY know it. This season, our army of bike parkers, led by Jim Manitakos, Rob Robinson, and the incomparable Ellen Fletcher, guarded over 5,500 bikes at Stanford home games. Many of the games are at night; sometimes it was cold, or windy, or raining. The shifts are a real commitment, lasting several hours.

Bike valet volunteers needed for the Echelon Palo Alto Gran Fondo

September 8, 2011 - 9:12am -- ernesto

The Echelon Palo Alto Gran Fondo and Challenge are upon us. If you have not heard, cycling legend Greg LeMond will be in attendance. SVBC is thrilled to be working with the organizers and we're happy to announce that SVBC members may use a special checkout code to receive $15 discount on the event. For those of you not riding, the organizers need bike valet volunteers. SVBC will be providing the hardware, but we need volunteers to work the corral.

SVBC packs 'em in at Stanford football home games

September 7, 2011 - 9:24am -- colin

At the first home game of the Stanford football season, SVBC volunteers parked 883 bikes, 70 strollers, and a number of other items not permitted into the stadium. SVBC and Stanford offer this service to keep hundreds of attendees out of their cars when heading to the game. If you're headed out to see the Cardinals toss the pigskin, bring your bike and put our volunteers to work! There are several corrals to take your bike.

Spring and Summer bike parking

At SVBC we strive to increase bicycle access to almost everywhere – the workplace, school, recreation – and spring and summer events are no exception. There is definitely nothing better than taking a nice bike ride to a fun event and finding secured bike parking when you arrive. In order for us to make Bike Valet Parking accessible to guests, we need your help to make it all happen. Please review the list of events below where we will be providing bike parking and let us know when and where you would like to help out.

A friend of my fiancée got his bike stolen a while back. It was locked up on the SJSU campus and he was away from it for about ten minutes while he peeked into her gallery to offer her a hand. It was also this man's birthday. Surprise - your bike is gone!

SVBC volunteers help park and guard thousands of bikes at Stanford football games

December 7, 2010 - 10:48am -- ernesto

Our friends at Stanford Football had a great season this year, but their accomplishments were not nearly as impressive as those of SVBC’s group of amazing Stanford Bike Parking volunteers. Through the course of six home games in heat, rain, and wind, a group of 68 remarkable volunteers led by Rob Robinson helped park and guard 5072 bikes, not to mention hundreds of strollers, skateboards and even one wheelchair.

Tour de Cure ride declared a winner

June 16, 2010 - 4:21pm -- Carlos

Tour de Cure was an amazing success last weekend thanks to you. The HP campus was taken over on Sunday by brightly colored lycra clad cyclists on a mission to raise money for the American Diabetes Association. There were as many reasons to ride as there were riders.

Some rode in memory of a loved one who died from diabetes, others rode to show support for friends and family, but all rode to show the power that a group of cyclists can have on their community.
