Supervisor Ken Yeager's Year End Report was just released and one of his goals that caught our eye here at SVBC was goal #2: Ensure Santa Clara County Gets Its Fair Share of Regional Funding.
As Ken states:
The Santa Clara County Special Events Ordinance was passed by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, August 24th. This revised ordinance now addresses all of the concerns raised by the VTA/County BPAC, and SVBC. SVBC wishes to thank County staff and the Board of Supervisors for working with the bicycling community and revising the ordinance to make it a law everyone can live with.
Santa Clara County is currently seeking volunteers to serve on its Roads Commission. The Roads Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors on matters generally relating to the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the County's expressways, highways and roads.
On June 22 the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors decided to delay any decision on the Special Events Ordinance until August. This ordinance was aiming to require permits and/or press releases for special events on county roads which would include recreational and group rides of 50-200 bicyclists.
