Redwood City is planning to re-pave and re-stripe three of the main streets in Redwood Shores. Currently, they are all two wide automobile lanes in each direction with no bike lanes. The wide lanes may be contributing to speeding by motorists. Redwood City is proposing to add bike lanes to one of the streets and narrow the lane widths on all three streets. They recognize the value of narrower lane widths in traffic calming. Some members of the community are proposing that Redwood City narrow the lanes further and add full-width bike lanes (out of the gutter) to all three streets. Redwood City invited all interested parties to comment at a meeting in Redwood Shores on Thursday, 3 April 2008.
