High Tech Company Bike Friendliness?

February 26, 2013 - 10:24pm -- pmackay

I'm interviewing for a new job, and an important factor in my decision is how life will be as a bicycle commuter. I've experienced both ends of the spectrum and my basic concerns are 1) indoor/safe parking (racks? lockers? cubicle?), 2) shower availability (gym too?), and 3) general corporate/personnel attitude towards bike-commuting people. The companies I'm mainly curious about (right now) are Xilinx, Intel, nVidia, Altera, Cisco, and Varian Medical (Milpitas and Palo Alto). If you work for one of these companies (or want to rave about your own; I'm in embedded systems software/management specializing in medical and industrial applications) then please let me know what to expect. I know you're out there 'cuz I've met some of you on the road! Thanks in advance.

P.S. Route-wise I live in Santa Clara near San Tomas at Homestead.

Personally I see, next to location, access to showers being the absolute most important item. Would be so nice if such availability at the work place could be made more uniform. Parking out of the sun would be next on my list.
