Busycle Farewell & Bike Party in Palo Alto
4:00pm - 10:00pm YMCA, Ross Road, Palo Alto
The beloved 15-person pedal-powered Busycle is leaving the Bay Area for a museum in its home town of Boston. Join us as we celebrate the time we got to enjoy its zany bicycling fun with presentations from legends of the bike industry, including Jobst Brandt, author of the timeless book, "The Bicycle Wheel" who will give a slide show of his Alpan bike travels; Jack Baker, the inventor of the modern day, short wheel base recumbent will talk about the history of the recumbent bicycle; Tim Brummer, builder of the fastest production bike, the Lightning F-40, will talk about why his bikes are so fast.
There will be test rides from well known recumbent manufacturers, exhibitions of kinetic sculpture vehicles, a silent auction, and exciting music by Bay Area musicians including Marla Goody and Iya Kahn.
