The next workday of the SVBC bike exchange program is Saturday February 14 from 10 AM to 3 PM at 2566 Leghorn St in Mountain View. We will hold a second event on Saturday February 28, also from 10 AM to 3 PM.
In January we donated 41 bicycles which is a fantastic start for 2009. At this upcoming event, we’ll be joined by Google Cares.
Here is a recent quote from one of the organizations we serve:
“The bikes really give the kids something valuable to work for. Thanks so much to all of you.” –Janis, Sunday Friends.
Adopt-a-Program
This month, we like to acknowledge Michael Hueschen who will be coordinating a new program we’re setting up with the Mountain View Police Activities League. Thank you Michael! Since we’re growing, we have a handful of new programs in the works, and if any of you would like to adopt one of them let us know.
Increasing Gross Domestic Happiness
This year, by popular demand, we’ve expanded our events beyond our 2nd Saturday workdays. See dates below. Please note we will not be accepting incoming donations during these events. The hours are the same, 10 – 3. The January 24 event was a great success. Thanks to Bill Michel for coordinating, and to all of you who volunteered.
Volunteers
There are more opportunities to enable the Bike Exchange touch more lives. We’re still looking to fill these positions:
Distribution Coordinator: With all the new partner non-profits that are receiving bikes, we are looking for volunteers who can plan our monthly distributions to one or more organizations. It is a bit like getting to be Santa Claus year round with a staff of mechanically inclined elves.
Other jobs we’re looking to fill include
- Lunch Coordinator
- Quality Assurance Team members
Please contact a Bike Exchange representative if you are interested in any of these positions.
