The City of San Jose is in the process of updating its General Plan. A Task Force has been holding periodic meetings for several years now. Currently it is in the process of considering issues related to Parks and Recreation, a category that includes bike trails.
The public is welcome to attend the meetings and invited to comment on the process. This is a good forum for bicycle advocates to make a statement in favor of extending the existing trails, filling in the missing links, and building connections.
The next meeting will be held on Monday August 24th in the west wing (the low, curved building) of San Jose City Hall at 6:30 PM, at Santa Clara and 4th Street. There are good bike stands on the south side of the building, at the end of the stub of 5th Street. If you drive, you can park in the garage on 6th Street and get your ticket validated in the meeting room (Room 118).
Material relevant to the meeting can be found at http://www.sanjoseca.gov/planning/gp_update/
