Central Park is a major urban park and a fun place for City of Santa Clara residents, ideally located in the City. Lush trees, sports and recreational facilities, amenities, and the Saratoga Creek provide opportunities for visitors to relax and get away from their busy lives. This park contains over 50 acres of open space and includes multiple facilities such as a community recreation center, swim center, tennis courts, picnic areas, basketball courts, play areas, softball fields, and surface parking lots.
The key goal of the Central Park Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Study is to evaluate and recommend improvements to off-site and on-site multi-modal access for both pedestrians and cyclists. The off-site improvements could include provision for bicycle lanes, sidewalk enhancements, high-visibility crosswalks, improved transit facilities, clear and simple eye-catching wayfinding signage. On-site improvements and amenities within the park will also be recommended and may consist of additional landscaping, rest areas, water fountains, benches, and new or updated connections / pathways between the park facilities.
