The Kiwanis Club of San Carlos is hosting a Child Safety Day, in partnership with the San Carlos Police Bureau and the San Carlos Fire Department, on May 11, 2013, 10 AM – 2 PM, at Central Middle School playground at 701 Cedar Street, San Carlos. This event is expected to benefit more than a hundred children in our community, ages 12 and under, who will learn and participate in safety education and activities.
The San Carlos Police Bureau will provide bicycle obstacle and street safety trainings and activities. Kiwanis will be giving out 100 new helmets to be fitted on children who will participate at the bicycle safety training. There will be free car seat inspections. The San Carlos Fire Department will provide home safety education and fire extinguisher demonstrations. Safety coloring books will be given to those who complete the home safety training. Children's ID Kits will be given to parents.
Throughout the day, free raffles of a new bicycle, bicycle safety gear and home safety gadgets will be given out to winners. Food station will be set up to provide healthy snacks and drinks to children. An entertainment station will be managed by the Carlmont High School Key Club to engage the children in sports activities and crafts making.
The ultimate goal of this event is that each child who leaves this event will leave more safety conscious than when they arrived, thereby, decreasing their chances of being injured. Let's help in keeping our children safe while they have a great time, learning, riding, eating, laughing, and being with family and friends. Join the Kiwanis Club of San Carlos, San Carlos Police Bureau, and San Carlos Fire Department, in making this event a memorable one to the children in our community.
